gpw_42 Posted October 30, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 30, 2008 Looks to me like a Naval flag for the letter "C," or "yes". See link: http://www.navy.mil/navydata/navy_legacy_hr.asp?id=273 No guess as to era...
gwb123 Posted October 30, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2008 Not to be a spoiler, but the colors are reversed from the "C" for "Charlie" example that was provided. Also I believe the signal flags were more square in shape. I wonder if this is a commercial steamship line.

Wrong colors and too large for an INTERCO/USN signals flag which are square not rectangular. Also the wrong shape for a pennant. Most likely commercial. Should have known to slow dow when I was outside of my experience! Thrasher
Bob Hudson Posted October 30, 2008 Share #6 Posted October 30, 2008 That appears to be the colors of the The Pacific Mail Steamship Company, although it was usually swallow tail: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/us~hfpa.html#pacmail
