National Airborne Day

Seventy seven years ago today, the Airborne Test Platoon made its first parachute jump that ultimately led to the later formations of American Airborne Units that were successfully deployed in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama and Iraq. So to paratroopers everywhere, we salute you for carrying on the Airborne tradition!

Thanks for remembering, I was fortunate in that I spent the majority of my 25 years service in the 82nd, 101st, 18th Abn Corps, and SF. But my favorite unit was the 82nd, started my career as a Private in the 82nd, went back 12 years later as a Captain. Loved both tours.
