these are the only pictures i have so i can't answer for the other patch. as for the TD patch, it may be that the wife didn't know any better and thought her husband served in the Tank Battalion. just my guess, i really don't know... could also be that the letter is not related to this set.

The other patch is for the 14th AAA Brigade. Looks like your guy probably did training with a tank battalion (or some TD unit) and ended up with the 14th due to low points. I remember seeing this group on ebay a while back.

Well it says on the envelope 706th Tank Battalion Co B, APO San Fransisco, and that would be his unit. This Tk Bn was by the way attached to the 77th (Statue of Liberty) Infantry Division, Guam, Leyte, and Okinawa. So your idea that the IKE is for a different guy may be true, the proof is if there's the same name and or serial number in the jacket.
