Is this an early military medal box?

I bought some ribbons on a BIN on eBay and they showed up in this box. There is absolutely no connection between the ribbons and this box - this was just the box the lady shipped them in.

However, before I toss it, could this box be something that was used for a military medal? My hunch is that it was either used for a medal or for a pocketwatch, as both would need the little notch at the top of the circular holder. I've never seen a light blue box for a medal, save for an early Navy DSM, but I guarantee I haven't seen everything!

It's a superb quality box and in really nice shape, save for the piece of scotch tape stuck on the front (she taped it shut, and that piece stuck; the rest came off just fine). I kind of feel bad tossing it without knowing what it was for before I do.

Any thoughts?

Doing a bit of googling, I found that this is probably a pocket watch box as it appears BB&B were pretty prolific at selling/making watches. Time to toss!

BB&B made a lot of really nice clocks and pocket watches. I have a mantel clock on my bookshelf at home I decided was a "keeper" just because of the BB&B name and emblem etched into the dial. Of course I wanted it for the BB&B medal connection...

Don't toss! Put back on Ebay. Somebody will want it.
