Marine Corps Camo Helmet Cover w/EGA Portrait - Korean era?

I came across this photo and was curious about the era.

I'm guessing late WWII or Korean War based on his HBT shirt and camo covered

helmet. The EGA is stamped on to a patch stitched to the cover.

The EGA is oddly stamped sideways.

The helmet cover with diamond was introduced, apparently, in 1956 (see image), and was used thereafter on various covers, including Mitchell and Woodland, through the 1970s.

Wow i collect these covers and never seen one sewn on sideways!....cant believe that passed inspection...love the pic!...mike
