DO YOU KNOW YOUR CHIT(S)?

I've had this blood chit for a while and was wondering why is the Chinese flag on the left side and the US flag on the right side? I have never seen another in that configuration before. Shows signs of being removed from a jacket.

Regards,

Ken

I can't answer your question. But I have seen the same flag configuration before. It is on a Blood Chit in my collection. I have wondered the same. I have no idea if the one I have is even original. It was found in the estate of a deceased "Hump Pilot" . I have the Chit along with a wartime (or immediate post-war ) studio portrait photo of the pilot ( at least I think its the pilot....could be a friend of his) .

Is your chit painted? Mine lacks a CBI insignia and is multi-piece construction on soft white leather (maybe goat or calf skin).

In the book Last Hope the Blood Chit Story the authors Baldwin and McGarry reference these chits occasionally occuring with the Chinese flag on the left. An example is depicted albeit different than yours.

This one is painted on a nice supple piece of leather.
