Steve B. Posted August 5, 2017 Share #5 Posted August 5, 2017 I have a 1st award CIB with a separate rifle. The rifle has become detached over the years. The back is totally blank like yours. I suspect it is American made, but do not know the manufacturer. I also have an EIB with a separate rifle. The rifle is riveted on, and the badge has large-base ("thumbtack") prongs. I believe it is German-made, but it too has no markings. I hope one of the experts can help us out, here.
Rakkasan187 Posted August 5, 2017 Share #6 Posted August 5, 2017 I believe that this is a German made CIB.. When I was stationed in Berlin in the 80's, I had just arrived from my last duty station. While at my last duty station I trained for and was awarded the Expert Infantryman's Badge and was awarded the standard issue EIB. When I arrived in Berlin there was a shop at McNair barracks that sold a lot of insignia and the first thing I noticed was the EIB, similar to the CIB pictured with a separate musket. I wanted my uniform to look sharp so I purchased one for about 2 US dollars. I also recall seeing CIBs in the display case as well that looked similar to the one in the picture..
