US82Bravo Posted August 3, 2017 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2017 Scotty, According to Emerson's "Chevrons" Catalog No. 271, your chevron is for a Electrician Sergeant First Class, 1908-1918 of the Coast Artillery Corps. The chevron was authorized January 1908 and was replaced by another version (Catalog No. 273) in May 1918. Hope this helps. Larry
KurtA Posted August 3, 2017 Share #3 Posted August 3, 2017 In this case, being the chevrons are green (rather than red for Coast Artillery Corps), it's for the Artillery School portion of the Army Service School Detachment.

KurtA, Point for clarification, Emerson says "Catalog Nos. 270-282 are rank chevrons used exclusive by the Coast Artillery Corps." Are you saying because the chevrons are not red they are not CAC insignia? If so, could you provide a reference? Thanks, Larry

He does mention green chevrons for QM school, but not artillery. Justin B. Posted August 4, 2017 Share #9 Posted August 4, 2017 Larry- Emerson's book apparently omits this. He does mention green chevrons for QM school, but not artillery. In the 2013 chevrons book under catalog No. 271 it says "In 1908 the Artillery School portion of the Army Service School Detachment were authorized NCOs of this rank who wore the design executed entirely in green, except for the five lightning bolts." Good to see the book does include it and I just missed it.
