Hey guys I today I picked up this possible ww2 usmc camo cover the guy said it was made from a shelter half not a standard military issue camo cover.

Now I'm no ww2 expert so I was wondering if you guys

could answer my questions. Did lots of soldiers make camo covers from half shelters if so do you know why was it because they weren't issued one or the standard one got worn out from combat so they decided to make one out of a half shelter.

I would never say "it was never done" but it isn't likely. If it had to be done at the time a piece of ripped material wrapped around a helmet pot would suffice....if they went to that length even. Plenty of Helmets that weren't being used any longer were easily available ( with covers). However plenty of unscrupulous dealers and collectors have made and pawned off these shelter half covers since the war ( at least since the availability of typical WWII and post war USMC covers became more limited. I wouldn't put any faith in a shelter cover being period.
