I Troop, 12th Cav....BLK might be an abbreviation for blacksmith

M Troop, 2nd Cav, B' S'TH (blacksmith)

Just an assumption.........

Thank you so much, it never dawned on me blacksmith abbreviations, strange found them both on the same keyring, if they were both blacksmiths maybe friends or relatives, found some info on the doherty name but not the other...

Good luck....the key and key ring looks to be as old as the tags.

Yes the key is over 100 years old, as i am an avid key collector, 103 jeys in an old coffee can for 5 bucks, with 2 ww1 era dog tags i think its a good buy...

Check out this item I found on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=311921339289&alt=web

I hope this is allowed as it is a link to ebay im selling both tags starting at 99 cents

Now that I have a closer photo, I think the tag I said was 2nd Cav is also 12th Cav. There seems to be a light strike of a '1' just before the the '2'.
