Bob Hudson Posted July 19, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 19, 2017 The "film strip" was an interesting bit of tech: it is a roll of several frames of 35mm film that are projected much the same as a normal 35mm slide, albeit on a different style of projector. When I was but a mere child, they still used these in elementary schools, usually accompanied by a vinyl record with narration. Every so often there was a beep on the record, signaling the projector operator to advance to the next slide. This is just a sample of the frames from the USA Navy training film "The Power Turret Part II" I photographed these with my iphone and a light table. There is some great art in this it if you scanned it with a good film scanner it'd make a photo.

Bob Hudson Posted July 19, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted July 19, 2017 There must've been an awful lot of barely literate men enlisted in WWII: having words and images (and sometimes a vinyl record) made these true multi-media presentations conveying the same nformation in a couple different ways. Here's a more mundane topic - cluster welds. Not as cool as a PBY turret, but just as essential:
USARV72 Posted July 20, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 20, 2017 Neat clips, welding one shows how it was done before MIG and TIG welding. Thanks for posting.
