doinworkinvans Posted July 18, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 18, 2017 I think with that big T...it's certainly going to make it different than the ATC we are all aware of
Airborne-Hunter Posted July 18, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted July 18, 2017 What size is it? 2 1/2 inches long I think with that big T...it's certainly going to make it different than the ATC we are all aware of The big "T" is identical to other ATC wings. I borrowed this image from Ron at Flying Tiger Antiques to show:
Scarecrow Posted July 18, 2017 Share #6 Posted July 18, 2017 Since the Air Transport Command was comprised of Civilian Airlines (Pan AM, TWA, Northwest etc.) and their personnel by contract service to the Army Air Force, this may be a variation of the pilot's civilian airline wing adapted for use when he flew for the ATC. That however is a pure guess on my part. Very interesting wing, I hope it's true use can be discovered
doinworkinvans Posted July 18, 2017 Share #7 Posted July 18, 2017 Yes that is true...forgot about those! I was speaking of the AAF version of the ATC....forgot about the civilian ones duh!
Kimo Posted July 18, 2017 Share #8 Posted July 18, 2017 Anything is possible, though since these are nothing like the ATC we all know my guess is that it is more likely to be unrelated. It could just as easily be TAC as ATC and be related to some small airline or aviation products manufacturing company or ???
