Longhorn92 Posted July 17, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2017 Hiep, or Andy as he was also known, passed away July 8th. As some of you know, he was John "Tilt" Meyer's interpreter and a good friend of Tilt's, among others. I visited him a few times at his pet store here in Houston and he was always willing to talk about his SOG days. He served for several years alongside SF and was very well respected. He told me a story about how he was about to launch one day with Spike Team Idaho in May of '68 when someone just being stupid and messing with him stuck a 5.56 round--or a pen, I can't recall--in his ear. It ruptured his ear drum so he stayed behind. ST Idaho went missing on that mission and was never found. Hiep told me he'd have been MIA too had the guy clowning around not stuck the round in his ear. His services will be this Friday and Saturday in Houston. http://m.legacy.com/obituaries/HoustonChronicle/obituary.aspx?n=Hiep-Nguyen&pid=186105523&referrer=298&preview=True
