DaddyDog Posted July 15, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted July 15, 2017 I figured out the VRE Depot on his security ID stands for "Vietnam Regional Exchange" but I have no idea what CARA Team 3 on the patch represents. Anyone's guess?

BagmanL6 Posted July 15, 2017 Share #6 Posted July 15, 2017 Great boonie. Is the bottle top just that ... a bottle top ... or is there something painted on the front? Thanks.
DaddyDog Posted July 15, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted July 15, 2017 Looks like a "33" on the bottle cap. Anyone know what sort of drink 33 was? I am a little concerned about preservation. It looks like the cap is beginning to damage the hat behind it. Here are more on the attachments on the hat.

USARV72 Posted July 15, 2017 Share #10 Posted July 15, 2017 Yea, 33 was the best local beer over there, " Ba Me Bau" IIRC. You can find it in some larger booze stores. Tiger beer was, well cant post what it was called........San Miguel was the only bottle beer that was imported. All US beer was canned and you had to have a church key. Co2 fire extinguisher would cool off a case.

pmanton Posted July 16, 2017 Share #16 Posted July 16, 2017 After spotting what looked like a large and very dead grasshopper in a bottle of 33 Beer I decided to stick to sealed US beer. Paul Salome, AZ

DaddyDog Posted October 8, 2017 Author Share #18 Posted October 8, 2017 I figured out the VRE Depot on his security ID stands for "Vietnam Regional Exchange" but I have no idea what CARA Team 3 on the patch represents. Anyone's guess? I believe the CARA Team 3 patch relates to Communications Asset Recovery Agency (CARA). I read in the 1st Signal Brigade, The Jagged Sword, that they had three mobile teams -- with 42 persons each -- to provide complete recovery functions on site, including the recovery and packing of equipment.
