WW2 Spam Can Ammo. WW2 ammo, later repack? Info

 

I've heard a couple of different stories in regard to this can of ammo. I'm told that it is surplus WW2 45 auto ammo, repacked as late as the 1990's. I've also been told that it is surplus "lend lease" ammo, originally for the Russians for use in a Thompson sub machine gun. I would also like to know how it is boxed. Is it boxed in original WW2 paper boxes? 500 or 600 rounds? Any info appreciated.
