WWI field books

I picked up 4 WWI field books over the weekend. I believe they may be British. They are Army book 152 correspondence, Army book 136, Army book 135 (Field message book), All three are paperback in brown. The last is a red hard bound Company roll book. My question is this. Were these used by American forces as well. They are full of hand written notes but I have not been able to read much to decipher the old writing. I can post pics this evening when I get home.
