Wedgehead30 Posted July 9, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2017 A friend recently acquired this patch and we're having a heck of a time identifying it. I had one person say it was a disney design for the 771st Tank Battalion. I haven't been able to confirm that as of yet. If it is I'm guessing it was a post war reunion or collector patch (?) Any help appreciated. Thanks, Scott
tredhed2 Posted July 9, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 9, 2017 WW II period original, US made, 275th AFA and yes, it's a Disney design. Pubbed in Trading Post, Oct-Dec 2002 Looks like it was encased in plastic?

Pubbed in Trading Post, Oct-Dec 2002 Looks like it was encased in plastic? Thank you sir, most appreciated. It's in a plastic envelope to keep it clean. I'd say he has a very nice patch there and somewhat valuable.

Yes, it is a nice patch, it is quite valuable, as are all Disney WW II designs which were made into patches for unit wear. Sometimes, the GI trimmed them down into a sort of hourglass design, as the patches are pretty large. Note that the red spots at the top are aligned in a code giving the unit numerical designation 2 7

tredhed2 Posted July 10, 2017 Share #8 Posted July 10, 2017 Well that's odd a book I checked out from local library had it ID'd as a 7 hundred unit number ....... No, it's not "odd". 1) The most polite answer is some dealer pulled it out of thin air..... 2) When I wrote the article which was pubbed in The Trading Post, I included a copy of the original unit request letter and a copy of the original response letter from Disney. The response letter from Disney describes the insignia.
