milsurp_scout_14 Posted July 9, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2017 Went to the gunshow in town today and pulled out a surprising amount of surplus gear. First up, an early pistol belt made by S.F. Co, which appears to be dated 1942. This came from a set all named to 'Gardner', but I am unsure if the name was a boy scout or Marine---set had the belt, 1940's canteen and cup in an M1956 cover, 1945 first aid pouch, and our next selection..... milsurp_scout_14 Posted July 9, 2017 Author Share #2 Posted July 9, 2017 This pouch, which is a rolled up M15 cleaning kit pouch, with fabric sewn in to cover the sides. Dated 1944. Very functional! Some faded markings on there reading 'Fungus Proof, Type 1...(illegible)'.
milsurp_scout_14 Posted July 9, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted July 9, 2017 Found a mint example of each type of canvas .45 mag pouch---One of the hard to find WW2-style that snaps in place on the pistol belt (dated 1952), and a 1969 contract with belt keepers. milsurp_scout_14 Posted July 9, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted July 9, 2017 Here's a USMC 3L hydration system, unissued with tags. Contract dated 2007; I am unsure where this fits in with their equipment, as the one that comes with the current coyote FILBE ruck looks much different. milsurp_scout_14 Posted July 9, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted July 9, 2017 And finally some odd ALICE style pouches, of which I am certain neither is issue, but possibly GI used. The left hand pouch appears to hold two .308 mags; the one on the right marked 'US' looks more like possibly a smoke grenade pouch. Does anyone have an opinion on whether the left hand pouch could have been made by Eagle? I know they used to make custom ALICE pouches.
FortJohn Posted July 9, 2017 Share #6 Posted July 9, 2017 I have gotten the re-purposed cleaning kit canvas, used as jungle first aid pouches, Don't know if it was done by the military or a surplus thing.
saxecoburg Posted July 12, 2017 Share #7 Posted July 12, 2017 Both of the ALICE pouches are non-military civilian made for the "surplus market". Neither of them were made by Eagle.
