dhcoleterracina Posted July 8, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 8, 2017 30 minute Army produced short film about the US Army's attack on San Pietro in the Liri Valley of Italy. Narrated by John Huston. Appears to have actual battle footage, sadly shows US KIA's and burial process. The Texas unit kept being ordered to attack a well protected position and it appears everyone who tried was killed. Very well done, I strongly encourage anyone to see this. I saw it on Netflix but perhaps it's on Youtube.
Nic Posted July 8, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 8, 2017 As a side note, there is a series on Netflix called "Five Came Back", which documents Hollywood directors who served in the armed forces during WWII and the movies they made. Steven Spielberg, Guillermo del Toro and a few other modern Hollywood directors narrate the series. It is very well done and IMO well worth the watch. Incidentally it talks about the making of Huston's "San Pietro", and indicates that the footage used in that movie was staged. It doesn't take away from the movie for me, but does show it in a different light.
