Hello everyone,

i recently bought this K2B flight suit with embroided capt. rank, navigator badge and name tag. Possibly done in Thailand? Is this flight suit original or not, i've been trying to search for some info on the name "Mike Barber" but without any results. Can somebody help me to find some info on this person please? I live in Europe and don't have access on any research databases.

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Phoenix

This flight suit is most likely original, and the embroidery may have been done in Thailand.

Please show photos of the Red River and US flag patches.

That US flag is very typical of similar ones made in Thailand during the Vietnam War. I base that both on the stitching and the reduced width of the stripes.

The River Rats patch looks good for the time period; I am just less certain about where it was made. They were made both in Thailand and Vietnam.

That RR patch looks like a Thai puffy back piece. Everything looks Thai to me on this one, nice pick up.

For USAF patches, look up Yankee Air Pirates, volumes 1 and 2.

I do not currently have a copy, so I do not know how much is in them describing how the patches were made. But from what I have seen, it is the best reference out there.

Also, we have a number of threads on this Forum showing examples. Use the search term "Thai made". Currently that pulls up 122 results. You can also try

"Udorn", "Korat" and other base names.
