mike kelso Posted July 3, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 3, 2017 This patch came with other ARVN Ranger insignia. No identification as of yet. Any thoughts? Thanks. Mike
vintageproductions Posted July 3, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 3, 2017 Mike- Ever since you originally showed me this I have been trying to figure out the id. Bob
Longhorn92 Posted July 4, 2017 Share #3 Posted July 4, 2017 My WAG would be that it's RF/PF related.
vintageproductions Posted July 4, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 4, 2017 Could be, with the Highlands and a tiger going through them. Also, I believe it is a fairly early piece, judging by the construction.
mike kelso Posted July 4, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted July 4, 2017 Thanks guys. Yeah, Bob, one of those mysterys. I showed to a bunch of ARVN Ranger advisors this last week. No success.
Longhorn92 Posted July 4, 2017 Share #6 Posted July 4, 2017 If it's early then maybe it's from the RF/PF predecessors. Civil Guard? Rural Guard? People's Self Defense Force? Something like that. Can't recall the names. The mountains are prevalent so maybe it's a unit from I or II corps, as Bob pointed out.
gwb123 Posted July 4, 2017 Share #7 Posted July 4, 2017 My WAG would be that it's RF/PF related. My first thought as well, just based on the design.
firefighter Posted July 4, 2017 Share #8 Posted July 4, 2017 Cool design. I'm sure the answer lies above the mountains. I can only see the cloud and stars, no idea what the other stuff is suppose to be.
gwb123 Posted July 4, 2017 Share #9 Posted July 4, 2017 Mike, If you are still reading this thread, I have another thought. The construction is similar to some of the patches made for the Army of Vietnam circa 1958. I am wondering if this is an unidentified regimental insignia from that era. mike kelso Posted July 6, 2017 Author Share #10 Posted July 6, 2017 Gil, I did have one US veteran who was in Vietnam early 60s tell me it reminded him of insignia he saw then. Thanks to all for comments. Mike
34BDQ Posted October 16, 2017 Share #11 Posted October 16, 2017 Mike, It is not related to the ARVN Rangers (BDQ). I cannot find the site where I saw this, but if I remember correctly is was for a Mike Force unit in either the I or II Corps.
