JasonT Posted July 3, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 3, 2017 Just wanted to share a grouping that I acquired recently ID'd to Clarence Alberg. These items were acquired directly from his family. The items were sold individually and unfortunately I was unable to get his War Correspondant patch; (related post: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/292506-stars-and-stripes-correspondent-patch-sold-on-ebay/) Clarence Edward Alberg was born in Ashtabula, Ohio. Clarence was a veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa, Ireland and France as an Information and Education Specialist for the 'Stars and Stripes' newspaper. He was drafted in 1941 and served through the end of the war. He was in Dachau, Germany on May 4th and 5th soon after the death camp there was liberated. His photos and writings from that day are preserved in the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. He passed away this past February 8th at the age of 98.
JasonT Posted July 3, 2017 Author Share #2 Posted July 3, 2017 Photo is not original but a printout of a portrait of Mr. Alberg I discovered online. The two small round pins are from when he was a member of the international typographical union post-war.
