Saturday yard sales where good to me this weekend. One was listed as a USAF Vets estate sale so I drove by after work to recon the location for the next day. Two people were setting up stuff so I stopped, introduced myself and mentioned my interests. The lady I talked to was the wife of the vet who had passed away in April. She was super nice and we talked for quite awhile. She mentioned she did have some things but wanted the oldest son to look at the stuff before parting with it. He was due in from Colorado at 6PM that evening.

Pulled up Sat. at 5AM and started the long wait. About 6:30, she came out in her house robe to get the paper, saying they had overslept. Another shopper and myself were invited to go ahead and start & she would be right out. I noticed right off a 1952 dated footlocker and a parachute that he used in an ejection were no longer out. When she returned, she had a box of plaques and a flight suit that she said no one wanted.

With that, here is what I came away with.

After talking with his wife and son, they went inside and pulled out his medals and insignia. I did take with me three disply cases of other vets that I had put together over the years. They liked what I had done.

Towards the end, I asked if they had a photo I use for the display. She brought me a total of four.

When I got home and was unloading, she called and said she found some boots and blues. Even though I was not really interested in those I still said I would take them. Went back and this was on the top of the pile. His first wife's cheerleader outfit!

This is actually a 3D plaque. The hands & pilot are separate wooden pieces.
