warguy Posted July 1, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 1, 2017 I got lucky and grabbed this last weekend just after it was listed for a good buy. Pictures were not good but I thought I recognized it. When it arrived, the 10K gold was very, very tarnished and really blended with the sterling so that the whole piece looked dark silver. In fact, it looked like a piece that had a gold wash with most of the gold missing. I suspect that may have had something to do with the low price. The seller did not recognize the 10K mark and thought it was a partial maker name "ICK" according to his listing. I did some careful cleaning and this is how it turned out. No maker mark, just sterling on back of eagle wing and 10K on back of anchor cross bar,. I have another in my collection that looks identical, but marked H-H on back of the wing in addition to the same sterling and 10K mark. Just want to confirm, early H-H piece here right? teufelhunde.ret Posted July 1, 2017 Share #5 Posted July 1, 2017 Yes, early H&H first seen in mid 20s, not unusual for it to appear in the sea bag of life long Marines.
