Eagle Breastplate

I came across this breastplate today and have a few questions.

 

1) Is it authentic or a reproduction?

2) Is it Civil War era?

 

Any help is appreciated.

Brass loops were used on Ohio breastplates, but the US ones used iron. Can't say I like the color on the face either.

Rim is a bit thick and the back looks a little over filled.  I'm not a fan of this one

Thanks for the info.  Glad I did not pay much for it.   So off it goes into my son's CW collection.
