Bob Hudson Posted June 27, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 27, 2017 This could confuse a collector in the future: a US Army saber - made in Spain - and engraved and presented to a US Marine Corps officer. The officer attended the Army's Transportation Officer Advanced Course (TOAC) and was honored with this sword and a plaque for being the Distinguished Graduate. It's made in Spain and has the brand name COLONIAL. It's nicely made with engraving/etching on the spine of the sword as well as on the blade. It came with a nice scabbard and a felt sock. SARGE Posted June 27, 2017 Share #4 Posted June 27, 2017 Yep, you know these guys do things like this just to confuse us collectors. A neat variation.
cutiger83 Posted June 27, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 27, 2017 Very nice sword. I wonder how the Army felt about having a Marine as the distinguished graduate of an Army course!
Bob Hudson Posted June 28, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted June 28, 2017 That is one nice looking sword. I had posted that it was from Japan but I got confused with a US Naval sword I got a few weeks ago. This one is Spanish and a very nice example of what they can do in, I presume, Toledo. This is a better than normal presentation piece. The blade is very reflective and at certain angles looks black as shown in some photos above.
