kfields Posted June 24, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 24, 2017 I've been going through some paper items in my collection and came across this regimental history. This small history was printed in France after the wars end. My question pertains to the general's name at the top of the page. Can anyone make out what his last name is? As a bonus, maybe you can tell me where he served? Thanks!Kim
patches Posted June 24, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 24, 2017 This has to be Granger Adams. A Field Artillery officer his entire career, to include the 5th FA Regt November 1911-June 1916. He retired in 1916 as a Brigadier General, and I think retired to Front Royal VA passing in 1928, so this unit history of an Artillery Regiment must of been a gift to him by offices and men of his former Regiment. http://penelope.uchicago.edu/Thayer/E/Gazetteer/Places/America/United_States/Army/USMA/Cullums_Register/2609*.html Can't find no photo of him unfortunately. patches Posted June 24, 2017 Share #4 Posted June 24, 2017 Thank you Patches!! That is the guy!! Kim He had a long association with the 5th FA as you see, no wonder a history of the regiment's action in the World War was sent to him, he probably longed to be with them Over There. Found a little more on him, curious, the first page on him says he's at Glenwood Cemetery, Geneva, NY. with this one at the West Point Cemetery. https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=48379594 And awhile back one of his service pistols was up for sale. http://www.pre98.com/shop/gone-but-not-forgotten/pending-ultra-rare-colt-1905-45-acp-automatic-pistol-general-granger-adams-sidearm-philippines-mexico/
