Content: Caption on back: "Colonel R. L. Salzmann, executive officer of the Kitzingen Basic Training Center in Germany, pins a first Lieutenant's bar on the shoulder of Lieutenant Jesse J. Holbert, Orange, New Jersey, assistant provost marshal at the training center following a recent promotion from the grade 2nd Lieutenant. Holbert, once assigned as a bodyguard to General Eisenhower in 1943, entered the Army March 19, 1941. He was commissioned as an officer November 1, 1946. Awards he has received include the Legion of Merit, for outstanding service in North Africa from 1943 to 1944, North African campaign ribbon with two battle stars and the American victory ribbon."
