mjw46 Posted June 22, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 22, 2017 Hi, I'm thinking of buying a Model 1917 Rifle. Same one my grandfather carried in WWI. Any thoughts on price ranges, what to watch for, etc... Thanks, Mike
Jumpin Jack Posted June 22, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 22, 2017 There were only four makers of the 1917 rifle, which seem to be collected as a group. This rifle was carried over to WWII use. I paid $150. for a very nice Eddystone last year. Hope this helps. Jack
Dogface72 Posted June 22, 2017 Share #3 Posted June 22, 2017 $400 - $800 for something nice. In the Richmond, VA area, $150 would buy you a sporterized or parts gun. A good number of 1917's were arsenal rebuilt for WWII. They will have mixed parts but are safe to shoot. I would pick up this reference guide for starters: https://www.amazon.com/P-17-AMERICAN-ENFIELD-J-C-Harrison/dp/B000H7Q2VC

gomorgan Posted June 22, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 22, 2017 I agree think only three makers. All are fine to shoot and not that expensive here in the mid-west in average condition..

kfields Posted July 2, 2017 Share #7 Posted July 2, 2017 Take your time looking for one. Maybe find one with matching receiver and barrel and with the original blued finish. Kim
