Tonomachi Posted June 19, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 19, 2017 I picked this up at the flea market but have never seen this type of uniform before. The belt buckle looks USN as well as the sword but don't know what the cross like devices are on the standing collar. I guessed CPO due to the crossed anchors on the cap. Is this USN and I was wondering what era?
Dave Posted June 19, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 19, 2017 Not CPO...Warrant Officer. As for time period, I'll let the more well-versed guys answer that. Nice photo!

Thanks for the information. I now wonder if the crossed devices on the collar could indicate an early corpsman?
KurtA Posted June 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted June 23, 2017 The cross insignia indicates 'Warrant Pharmacist." Based on that insignia and not having shoulder straps, this photo should date 1899 to 1901.
