Saw this for sale. Have no clue. As usual..... What it is. Bringing it to the experts. The description reads "JACKET IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. MAKER NAME IS: A. DUBOIS & SON UNIFORMS NEW YORK. FROM THE MID 1800'S IS MY GUESS. ALL THE BUTTONS READ: U.S.M. S.S.CO "

I believe that is from The New York & Liverpool United States Mail Steamship Company (Collins Line)...U.S.M.S.S. CO.

Wow. How on earth did you get that lol. That dates this jacket to the 1850s I read that line wad defunct by then. Thanks. Just hand to see what it was. Not military. But would be cool for the age alone. Let someone else joy it.

I found it in "Letters Received by the Attorney General,1809-1870: Federal Government Correspondence....There was a letter noted about The New York & Liverpool United States Mail Steamship Company (Collins Line) getting a Postal Contract for Mail Steamers.....Now how I found that resource is another story...Actually just real heavy Googling !!!
