smwinter207 Posted June 9, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2017 My guess is it is VN made and period. Who would wear this scroll with no Company listed? Thanks S

tredhed2 Posted June 9, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 9, 2017 There were a few KW Ranger company vets who made the Army a career and also served in VN. Yes, the scroll is VN made. Have also seen them for the 4th and 5th Ranger Companies.
smwinter207 Posted June 9, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted June 9, 2017 I thought I read they didn't assign letters until 1969? Might be wrong.
tredhed2 Posted June 9, 2017 Share #7 Posted June 9, 2017 I thought I read they didn't assign letters until 1969? Might be wrong. The type scroll at the start of this thread is a VN made version of the standard generic US made Airborne Ranger scroll that was first available in 1951. The companies which served in Korea and in Japan in 1951 often added their company numbers in 1951. You are confused about KW Ranger companies, which used numbers, and VN era companies, which used letters.
doyler Posted June 9, 2017 Share #8 Posted June 9, 2017 As stated VN made I should have clarified that but figured when I mentioned it was a veteran or right shoulder patch that it was most likely made and worn by a former veteran who went to VN. I have even seen these in subdued black and green uniform removed
