ghengus Posted June 8, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 8, 2017 Was lucky enough to pick up the M-444 jacket belonging ENS Howard C. Taber USNR from his daughter. Definately well worn. He was a USN pilot, daughter did not know much about his service. So far I found him on a Navy muster roll for USS Lexington leaveind San Diego in 1944, likely after her repairs. Also found other documents that indicate he was a LT in 1944 and LCDR by 1945. Still researching but honored to have this one. Also got his M-69-F leather transport coat. Thanks for looking. falcon_ib Posted June 8, 2017 Share #3 Posted June 8, 2017 Don't see M-444s very much at all. Keep us updated on the research! Evan
ghengus Posted June 8, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted June 8, 2017 Thank you. Definately some condition issue. Plan on keeping it in a vacuum sealed bag and away from a hanger. I sent away for his records so will see what I get. Can't wait.
Jim MacDonald Posted June 9, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 9, 2017 Taber flew F6Fs with VF-37 off of the Sangamon (CVE-26) in Sep 44. He was a Lt. at that time. Mac
