Ronnie Posted June 7, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 7, 2017 I posted something for sale and had the items being sold in a small cardboard box. I found the boxes at Wal Mart while looking for something else. They were well made little boxes in about a half dozen different shapes. I don't remember how many I bought but I had this idea to paint a patch on the box lid. I figured what the neck somebody might like them and buy them. I started painting square patches on the square boxes, round patches on the round, oval on the oval and so on. These boxes pictured here were the small boxes. I also purchased some of the larger boxes and painted them as well. A member here, "Collector" asked me to tell you about these and to post more photos. The ones pictured here are the only ones left. I chose to keep these for myself. The photo of the 8th AAF box with the rusty crap in it is a piece of a WWII USAAF B-17 named "Situation Normal". That was a B-17 that my good friend Doug Henderson was a crew member of. His bomber was shot down on March 6, 1944.....the big raid on Berlin. He of course was captured and spent the rest of the war as a POW. He went to Germany in 2004 to view the crash site which had been found by researchers. He dug up some parts and some .50cal brass from the area of the tail section....brass he had fired on that fateful day. Hope you enjoyed my little project. Thanks. Ronnie Posted June 7, 2017 Author Share #2 Posted June 7, 2017 Last box. The photo with the bullets is to show the size of the box. Ronnie
WW2JAKE Posted June 7, 2017 Share #3 Posted June 7, 2017 I like that Idea! Would be great to keep items from each person in my family in. Obviously the box corresponding to their unit.
