The American Society of Military Insignia Collectors (ASMIC) will have their national militaria show in Kansas City on 8-9 September 2017.  The show is at the KCI Expo Center, 11730 NW Ambassador Drive, Kansas City, MO.  This venue is conveniently adjacent to the KCI Airport.  This is an excellent show in conjunction with the ASMIC meeting.  Information is on their website and the president/show director is Jim McDuff at [email protected]

I will have two display tables of uniforms and US Model 1902 Army Officer Sabers at the show so drop by and say hello.

Can't wait for this show. I hope it is well attended! If you've never come to Kansas City before check out Joe's of KC bbq. Just my opinion but it's the best!

I reside in Kansas City and Joe's does have the best BBQ in the nation. Very laid back environment compared to the other bbq places here, and very reasonable on price. Give yourself extra time because the place stays busy from open to close. Always a line, but hey you can buy beer while you are waiting.

I plan on getting there early on the 7th and going to the WWI museum. Everyone should really try to go while in KC.

You betcha!  The National WWI Museum is a must see.  It is located downtown directly across from Union Station and at the end of the streetcar line.

Oklahoma Joe's ( or whatever the new name is) is killer for dinner, and Bryant's is great for lunch. Joe's is always my first stop when I get to KC.

If you have the time after the WWI museum, the Steamboat Arabia museum in the City Market is cool too.

Can't go wrong with Bryant's or Joe's...

Great information!  Oklahoma Joe's is now called Kansas City Joe's.  Go figure.  And... the Steamboat Arabia is another great museum and is located on the other end of the free ride streetcar line.  Park at one and ride the new streetcar to the other museum for a two-fur.

One of the best parts about this show is the displays (like Sarge above). There are a number of collectors - we usually have approx 15 at each show - who have collecting interests that they are only too happy to share with us. Am not talking just cloth insignia, either. Most of the displays contain 20+ items each. Better than most museums, too. You are not going to see moth eaten, ratty, unidentified or incorrectly IDd items. If you don't have time to go to the WW I Museum in KC, or any other museum there, you will enjoy these displays. They are all part of the show.

Should have 300 + tables at the show, too. Great way to learn about insignia (or whatever you collect) is by attending shows and handling items. Much better way to learn than just by staring at computer screen.  Yes - you can handle patch porn at the show. How great is that?

Friday - Public Hours 1200-1700

Saturday - Public hours 0830- 1700 PM

I found a link to the 2013 ASMIC convention and show in Kansas City report with lots of photos of that event.

I won the First Place award for my US Constabulary display at that convention so it was a great show for me.  I am looking forward to the upcoming 2017 show and my new display of US Model 1902 Army Officer Sabers.

Question on admittance...

The flyer online states that ASMIC members can come in to the show as of 0830 on Friday. Two questions - is this true, and how does one provide membership proof? Will there be someone with a list? Sorry if these are dumb questions.

Members do get to come in earlier then the regular public.

You will need to know your membership number plus I believe they will double check at the door via computer.

Just heard that this show will have the most tables ASMIC has had at one of their shows in a long time.

Members can register at the door, correct?  Just found my form last night, and didn't figure there was time to send it in.  Thanks!
