Millions of Doughnuts were eaten by the Fighting Men and Women of WW2, So I though it fitting to post this Marine with a few doughnuts stacked on his bayonet! Happy doughnut day!

Dad served in the Pacific in WWII. I remember him holding a longtime grudge against the Red Cross because they started charging for formerly free donuts and coffee midway through the war. It was the War Department's idea, but it seems the soldiers didn't know that at the time. If I remember correctly, he said the Salvation Army always served free coffee and donuts. Something Dad appreciated forty years later.

mikie, My Dad also servered in the Pacfic, He as well would always give to the Salvation Army, but not the Red Cross....He always said the Salvation Army always gave....Intresting!

268th, man we should have done the ARC at MTA! Maybe not, most likely still be in jail.......

Only thing I remember about the ARC was they showed up when Miss America came to our base, no one was looking at ARC ladies............
