Mr.Jerry Posted May 31, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 31, 2017 Neat hat we just picked up, but any idea on the significance of the hat band? Looks like it might be blue & white. Thanks! Jerry
Collector .45 Posted May 31, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 31, 2017 Jerry, That's an interesting visor you have there. Upon first glance that styling with the different colored bands sort of reminds me of the 1902 pattern enlisted mans uniform with the designated branch colors on their hats. The design with the single colored band layered between two matching bands of a different color designating the branch of service, ie. cavalry, infantry, artillery, etc. Apart from that, its something that I have never encountered. - Henry

KurtA Posted June 1, 2017 Share #4 Posted June 1, 2017 Back in the pre WW2 days, umpires/evaluators at US Army War Games/Maneuvers, often wore bands on their caps for easy ID. Possibly that was the purpose of this WW1 era cap?
gomorgan Posted June 1, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 1, 2017 I was thinking I read that Aviation (pilot) trainees wore a blue band on their visor caps. I've only seen one that I know was good from a home town boy and it had only blue band.
Cavdoc83 Posted August 6, 2017 Share #6 Posted August 6, 2017 It looks like someone put the enlisted dress hat band on the service cap.
