Boys will be boys (even Marines)

Here are a few photos from a lot of 173 I purchased some time back. None of them are identified, but I have identified 3 of the images (an TBM Avenger and 2 images of the cemetary) as being on Peleliu. Also many of the photos picture Marines. So I am guessing that the images posted below were taken on that island by a member of the 1st. Marine Division. If anyone thinks the airport image is somewhere else let me know.

Thats fuuny. My Dad told me when he was in Philipines he was the last in the line on patrol. He put his bayonet on his rifle picked up a Japanese skull and shouldered his rifle. A few minutes later he said Hey I got a feeling were being followed. It brought a few laugh's. Humor becomes different in combat.

268th, you are so right. Knew an artillery Capt. that had a vc skull with a candle in it. He lit his cigarettes from it. Then there was the time the L.N. bus got shot with a beer can mortar.....
