aacapt Posted May 24, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2017 Having only recently discovered USMF (thank you, Mr. Schwartz), I'm like a kid in a candy store. I saw some old posts (by mtnman and pfrost, I think) that dealt with ivory/bone sweetheart wings. I have one example, and the pin is very similar to some of the wings posted. What is different from the others I saw is that the "void" areas of the aircrew crest are cut out. They are 3" tip to tip. The scan of the back is blurry because the pin lifts the surface off the glass. Scratched into the back are the initials(?) JP. Any observations as to their vintage, origin, etc. would be appreciated.
Der Finn Posted May 24, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2017 Nice set of wings! May not be sweetheart but theater-made for an aircrewman. Have seen this type of wing made in both the CBI and North Africa.
Brian Keith Posted May 25, 2017 Share #3 Posted May 25, 2017 Love them! If you are in the US, I would always call them bone. As they are not 100 years old, you could have problems if they are ivory and you try to sell them. Gotta love the oppressive laws! BKW
JDK Posted May 25, 2017 Share #4 Posted May 25, 2017 Great wings! These are one of the more detailed ones I've seen. A real beauty! JD
