Does anyone know how and when WWII Seabees were issued M1 helmets? For example, at Camp Peary, were the sailors issued M1 helmets at the beginning of training and did they keep these same helmets throughout the war? Or did they have to turn these helmets in to the Naval Construction Training Center before being sent off to their assignment/battalion where they were again issued an M1 helmet? Thanks

I do not have an answer to your question, however you might try contacting the folks at the Seabee Museum in Davisville R.I.
