Catfishcraig Posted May 16, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 16, 2017 I missed out on this belt on eBay because I wasn't sure if it is a WWII USMC Garrison belt or not. I studied a hand full of posts on the topic and was thrown off on the number of holes in the belt. It was marked cordovan leather so that was good but only had five holes for the buckle, I thought USMC belts had seven? Hoping someone can educate me to know what to look for in the future. Thanks Craig PICs of belt in question

themick Posted May 16, 2017 Share #3 Posted May 16, 2017 You didn't miss out on much. This belt would be a private purchase one. There is nothing to indicate that this one was ever worn as part of a military uniform, no name stamped on it. Also, this one is different than the WWII private purchase belts I've found with groupings over the years in that this one has a cheap hollow stamped plated buckle, and not solid brass which could be polished up very bright. Yes, issue USMC belts had seven holes. Steve
