rustywings Posted May 15, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2017 What do you think of this no-glow bullion Glider qualification badge on combat blue felt? Authentic? WWII or later? British made?

pfrost Posted May 15, 2017 Share #4 Posted May 15, 2017 Hi Russ, I like it too, and would expect it to be a late war/post war manufacture for those guys who were jazzing up their uniforms for the trip home. But I would quibble about it being on "combat blue" backing. This was a qualification badge that once earned, could be worn, whether or not the "glider rider" was on combat duty or not. Like the CIB, they wore those with pride and didn't need anything to "jazz" them up. And strictly speaking, I would suspect that any airborne infantryman in England between 1944 and 1945 would have probably been getting ready or returning from one invasion or another. I suspect that this is just a manufacturing process that used blue melton backing material and is not related to being an indication of combat status. Sweet wing, tho.
