cwnorma Posted May 12, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 12, 2017 Forum Friend Daniel Griffen recently posted a lovely WW1 wing for sale on his website. Most of you are familiar with this pattern, and a few of you may have one in your collections. But this one seems to have a unique feature: It is clearly marked on the back with Robbins Co, of Attleboro Falls Hallmarks: I don't know of any others so marked, perhaps there are some more out in the collections out there? I thought you guys would enjoy learning this additional detail about what seems to be a third pattern of Robbins wing. Cheers! Chris

rustywings Posted May 15, 2017 Share #3 Posted May 15, 2017 Man-o-man, Robbins Co. sure produced a series of handsome aerial badges during the WWI era! Of the three Pilot wing variations shown above, I believe the example depicted in Post #1 is the oldest and rarest of the bunch. I've been fortunate to handle a few of this pattern in the past, but never one which included the "10K TOP" marking on the reverse. It really is a beautifully feathered Pilot wing. Whoever was lucky enough to purchase that wing is likely walking in tall cotton! Thanks for posting the comparison shots Chris.
