Reforger Posted May 12, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 12, 2017 I recently got these Sterling Jump Wings and was wondering if someone could date them. It seems they were worn for a while as the front is polished down quite a bit. The fasteners don't match, so one or both of them are replacements. The pins on the back seem a bit long, which is considered a sign of post WWII production. I would still like to get some opinions though.
triplecanopy Posted May 12, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 12, 2017 It is hard to pin down an exact date, but a good approximation would be in the 1950's. I would further guess that these were most likely graduation wings that were awarded after completing jump school. In comparison to other wings of that period, they look like the Crest Craft style wings that later carried the 14C hallmark. Those are just my opinions, others may have alternative views. Reforger Posted May 14, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted May 14, 2017 Interesting, thanks. I was guessing early 1950's as well.
