all-bull Posted May 7, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 7, 2017 There were a whole bunch of these types that popped up on eBay this week. I was wondering the same thing
Teamski Posted May 7, 2017 Share #3 Posted May 7, 2017 Gotta be a fantasy patch! Pretty, but fantasy. -Ski
gwb123 Posted May 7, 2017 Share #4 Posted May 7, 2017 These look like they are very recently made. I've never seen anything like this dating back to the period. I am guessing these are a new breed of fantasy patch.
Teamski Posted May 7, 2017 Share #5 Posted May 7, 2017 They look pretty convincing German wise, but................. -Ski
tredhed2 Posted May 8, 2017 Share #6 Posted May 8, 2017 They are all fantasy patches. Seller usually says they are made for veteran's groups. Not a lot of WW 2 vets left.... A repro is a copy of a patch known to exist. Fantasy patches are copies of patches that never existed. There may be a photo of a sign, or an official drawing, or an overactive imagination.. There is an armor patch for the Tank Co, 18th Inf with a DI incl in the apex, and I have seen another patch with a command SSI added, like those posted in this thread. Diff embr process for that. Doesn't mean there aren't others, but see paragraph above. Here's where knowing your unit hx comes to play. Don't have access to my resources right now, but if my memory serves me correctly, there never was a 403rd Tank Bn during WW2, nor was there a 403rd Armored Bn post war. If you didn't know this, you might be tempted.
