WAHOOMAN Posted May 6, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 6, 2017 I obtained this photo a while ago at an estate sale. This photo belonged to the brother of a veteran from the 200th Coast Artillery (AA) B Battery - Pvt. Claude Oliver Smith. Smith was from Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born on July 11, 1919. He was in the Bataan Death March and died in captivity in May 1942. I was also able to obtain a copy of Heroes of Bataan by Marcus Griffin at the estate sale. The remains of Pvt. Smith were disinterred after the war and reburied at the FT. Bliss National Cemetery. Original photo with frame, front and back.

WAHOOMAN Posted May 6, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted May 6, 2017 The New Mexico National Guard museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico has a collection of 200th Coast Artillery yard long photos. I plan on visiting soon, maybe they will have the soldiers in the photo identified. RIP Pvt. Claude Smith

WAHOOMAN Posted May 6, 2017 Author Share #10 Posted May 6, 2017 Thanks 12thengr. I have not been able to find the veteran in the yard photo. I have not been able to cross reference the photo in the book Heroes of Bataan with the yard photo. I am hoping the New Mexico National Guard Museum will be able to assist.
