I remember when Ernst Hardware was selling them here for $50 each. I was to young to buy one and tried to get my dad to but he wouldn't. He was a WW2 & Korean war vet and hated that firearm for some reason.

A lanyard loop mag at that....

Your Dad hated it because it was like carrying a brick. Which it also became after emptying the magazine. After bring hit with it a couple times, you might think you were shot with it...LOL

In the late 50's the NRA was handling sales of military firearms. My 1911 cost around $20.00 I think my 03A3 was $19,00.

 

Oh don't I wish I still had them.

In 1959 my Colt m/1911 with REM-UMC slide cost $19 I think; and the mint NRA M-1 Rockola carbine was $23.00 I think it was 1963. Still have them both.
