tomcatter Posted May 2, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 2, 2017 Hi guys, this is what I believe to be a pair of late WWII Service Pilot wings. They are full size, silver plated and not hallmarked. Jumpin Jack Posted May 2, 2017 Share #3 Posted May 2, 2017 I can't help you with manufacturer, but they certainly look good to me. Jack
tomcatter Posted May 3, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted May 3, 2017 Thank you Jack! The only thing that looks strange to me is the dark backside, I always thought it was a post-WWII feature.
pfrost Posted May 4, 2017 Share #5 Posted May 4, 2017 No, not a strictly post WWII feature. That is probably one of these "dealer-lore" things. I am pretty sure that they were making them with this type of finish during WWII too. I think the didn't retire the service pilot rating until about 1947, but they were pretty much obsolete well before that time. It is a nice WWII vintage service pilot wing.
