Flightpath Posted April 27, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2017 Hi, I have been watching films taken during WW2 and taking stills so I can look at details of men, equipment, and weapons. Today I was watching a movie showing GIs arriving in Britain aboard the Queen Mary, leaving the docks, waiting for transport and arriving at camps, I took a few stills, then 'zoomed' in on them. Here's part of one frame showing a Springfield M1903A4 sniper rifle and a 16" M42 bayonet, these were left by the road whilst the soldiers were being given life belts. (Was thinking that the scope should have a cover over it actually)........ hope you find it interesting............. cheers, John

tankdriver Posted April 28, 2017 Share #4 Posted April 28, 2017 There was no cover for the scope. There was lens covers for it. The best movie I have seen was "The Story of GI Joe". It is about Ernie Pyle. All the extras are actual active GI's. The film was made during WW2. All the equipment is real WW2, the vehicles, and the tactics. Watch, you can learn a lot of info off it.
