flyboy53 Posted April 24, 2017 Share #6 Posted April 24, 2017 You caused me to look at some AAF patches in my collection that I know to be authentic. My collection has four different variations of this insignia. I have a similar patch that is partially embroidered and the background is actually blue twill fabric, almost the same color as this felt example. It has a quarter-inch blue ring border that is the traditional AF Royal Blue. The patch was given to me by an a WW II veteran who wore it so I know its real. Wish I had kept the one variation that was cut off a damaged blue gabardine flight suit that I once found in a box. That patch was stenciled gold on blue gabardine. I gave it up a long time ago to another AAF veteran I would chalk it up to wartime production and the need to get such orders into the field.
